Suggest a better descriptionCream shortening and sugar, beat in eggs. Stir in baking powder, corn meal and enough milk to make a light cake batter. Bake in a slow oven (300 degrees) until it tests done, 45 minutes to an hour. Many of the recipes in this collection did not contain amounts or oven temperatures.
