In heavy sauce pan, heat cream with van bean until it comes to a boil.
When creme is hot, whisk half of it into the egg - yolk mixture, then return to saucepan . Cool, but do not let it boil, stirring constantly, over low heat until the custard coats back of spoon.
Put in Bowl, set over ice until cool, chill.
