Combine sugar, butter, salt and milk. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast and add to milk mixture.
Add beaten egg and 1/2 the flour. Mix well. Add remaining flour. Kneeding well.
It sticky, put in refrigerator. Don't use any more flour than necessary. Sometimes you will have to use more.
Put in greased glass bowl. Cover with wax paper and towel. Let rise.
Roll into little balls. Place 3 balls in greased muffin pans. Let rise again.
Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds.
Bake 10 - 12 minutes at 375 to 400 degrees.
Makes 1 1/2 dozen
