Mom O'Brien's famous dinner rolls
In a bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Measure flour by sifting. Add milk, sugar, salt, egg and shortening and 1/2 flour to yeast.
Mix until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to handle easily. Turn onto lightly floured board, kneed until smooth (5 min). Round in greased bowl bringing greased side up. Cover with cloth, let rise in warm place till doubled (1 1/2 hours). Punch down and let rise again (30 min). Shape, raise, bake. 350% for 12-15 minutes.
