You can use the newer pasta which goes into the dish without boiling. But, If using standard noodles....Boil 6 quarts of water. Add 2 tablespoons of salt. Add 2 1/2 to 3 boxes of noodles to water. Boil according to directions, basically until the white center disappears. Rinse starch off noodles, according to directions or with cold water.
Sauce Prep
8 oz of olive oil in pan. Add in 2 tsp of dried oregano and 4 garlic cloves cut in 1/3rds. To this, add 1/4 tsp of crushed red pepper. To this add 6 cans of 14 to 16 ounce Italian bell tomatoes, 2 large cans of tomato paste. Let simmer one hour, stirring frequently. Set aside.
In another frying pan, brown three lbs. ground meat or hamburger meat. Sprinkle with garlic salt to taste. Add one tsp of Oregano to meat. When browned, add two cans of tomato sauce and let simmer for one hour, stirring frequently.
Preparation notes
Place cheeses into three separated piles: Grated Mozzarella. Grated Romano. Grated Parmesan.
Oil your9X13X2 1/2 inch lasagna pan, bottom and sides. Place layers of noodles in a layer. Sprinkle 1/3 of all cheeses separately and evenly over the layer of noodles. Add 1/3 of your meat sauce and a small amount of the tomato sauce evenly over the cheese and noodles. Sprinkle some Parmesan on top, evenly. Repeat this process of layering noodles, meat sauce, tomato sauce and cheeses 2 more times. Place in oven, preheated to 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes. Let cool. Cut in three inch squares, Serve individually, topped with heated tomato sauce on top and parmesan sprinkled evenly.
The heated sauce at the end as a topper makes this great!
