Mix shortening, butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla thoroughly. Stir flour, salt, and baking powder together separately and add to mixture. Chill at least 1 hour (or overnight).
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Roll dough 1/8" thick. Cut. Place on ungreased baking sheet. cook until golden
(dough can be chilled 1 hour or overnight. just bring to room temperature).
