Suggest a better descriptionPreheat the grill to high. Put the gammon on a foil-lined oven tray and grill for 4-5 mins on each side.
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small saucepan over a low heat. and stir in the flour. Cook for 1 min then gradually stir in the milk (or ale) until smooth. Turn up the heat, cook for another minute, then add the mustard and cheese, stirring continuously. Season and take off the heat.
Top each of the gammon steaks with 1/2 the rarebit mix, then return to the grill for 5 mins until the cheese is golden.
Serve with mash potatoes and green vegetables or a green salad with apples, celery & walnuts.
