Suggest a better descriptionPreheat the oven to 200C (180C fan).
Cream together the margarine and sugar. Add the syrup & mix.
Mix the flour, ginger, bicarbonate of soda & baking powder together in a separate bowl. Beat the egg.
Add a little of the dry ingredients & a little egg to the sugar mixture & mix well. Repeat until all is added.
Roll into balls that are just smaller than a ping pong ball, and place 6 on each baking tray (covered with baking parchment) - they will spread in the oven so leave well spaced. Cook for 10 minutes, take out when deep golden brown. Allow to cool on wire racks before eating.
