1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
2. In a small sauce pan whisk together the brown sugar, tequila and water. Bring the mixture to a boil and all the sugar is dissolved.
Set aside to cool.
3. Place the pineapple in a baking dish and pour the cool liquid over them. Let stand at least 5 minutes or up to 30 minutes.
4. Butter the pound cake slices and grill until golden brown turning once. About 1 minute per side.
5. Place 2 pineapple rings on each slice of cake. Drizzle a little of the sauce over the plate and top with whipped topping.
