A turnip dish sweetened with Apples, brownsugar and nutmeg. A Christmas favorite!
Peel turnip, cut and cube. Peel apples, and quarter. Boil together until tender. Drain and then mash. Add butter and well beaten eggs. Beat well. Preheat oven to 350F. In separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir with fork to combine. Stir into turnip mixture. Combine well and pour into 2 L (2 quart) cassarole dish. Combine crushed croutons with melted butter. Mix well and sprinkle on top. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
