Cook and strain macaroni noodles. Melt butter in a large frying pan. Add flour and salt. Gradually add milk and stir until it comes to a boil and thickens. Add the cheese and stir until it melts. Add spices. Combine the sauce with the macaroni noodles and place the mixture into a 9" x 13" glass dish. If you wish to add a bread topping you can add either; bread crumbs, crushed crackers, or cornflakes with 3 tbsp of melted butter. Optional: Bake in the oven at 350 degrees F for approximately 30 mins.
Baking the casserole for 30 mins will allow the cheese to melt and spread the flavour throughout. It also has a nice golden, crunchy topping after baking.
