Places sheets of foil on countertop for cooling cookies.
Combine shortening, brown sugar, milk & vanilla in large bowl.
Beat at medium speed of mixer until well blended.
Add egg & beat just until blended
Combine flour, salt & baking soda.
Add to creamed mixture at low speed.
Mix just until blended.
Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
Flatten slightly in crisscross pattern with fork.
Bake at 375 decrees for 7-8 min. or until set and just beginning to brow.
cool 2 min, on baking sheet. Remove to foil to cool completely.
