Process the onion with 2 tblsp water in food processor to a paste (or mash a very fine chop or grate)
In a large bowl combine meat, onion, egg, spices, chopped cilantro, oats, salt and pepper
Form meatballs into golf ball sized balls - arrange on a cutting board
Place meatballs in freezer for 10-15 minutes to firm them up
Add oil to pan - brown meatballs in batches over medium heat on all sides
Remove meatballs to paper towel lined dish - set aside
Discard oil from meatball pan and wipe clean
Mix cornstarch and water in a bowl
To the same pan, add pomegranate molasses, chicken stock, brown sugar and sauce spices
Bring to a boil and then simmer to thicken. Add cornstarch/water mixture and whisk to thicken
Add meatballs and 1/2 of pomegranate seeds to sauce
Simmer for 15-20 minutes to cook meatballs through
Serve with sprinkled pomegranate seeds and mint leaves.
