line baking sheets with parchment paper
whisk, flour, baking soda ,spices and salt un medium bowl until combined
in mixer beat butter, orange zest, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy
reduce speed, add yolk and vanilla
reduce speed and add molasses
at slow speed add flour mixture and mix until just incorporated, scraping down sides of bowl once
roll into 1 1/2 inch balls, roll in sugar
bake until cookies are browned, still puffy, edges have begun to set but centers are still soft, about 9-11 minutes, rotating sheets halfway through baking.
cool 5 minutes and remove to wire rack
