Try these soft molasses cookies sprinkled with sugar. They are a childhood favorite. These cookies require chilling the dough for a few hours before baking.
Cream butter. Slowly beat in sugar. Beat thoroughly.
Add beaten eggs and molasses.
Sift flour, soda, baking powder, salt and ginger three (3) times.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternatively with milk. Beat after each addition.
Chill dough 2-3 hours at least.
Heat oven to 375 degrees.
Turn dough on lightly floured surface. Roll 1/8" thick. Cut with cookie cutter or old-fashioned (rocks) glass. Sprinkle with sugar.
Bake cookies in 375 degree oven for about 12 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
