A chocoate chip bar cookie with an awesome brown sugar topping.
In our house we call them "Sod cookies" --long story!
Cream shortening, sugar and brown sugar.
Combine soda and water and add to the sugar mixture.
Add vanilla, black walnut flavoring and egg yolks.
Stir in flour.
Pat into a greased and floured 9x13" pan.
Sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips on top and cover with the topping.
Topping:
Beat 2 egg whites until stiff. Gradually beat in 1 cup brown sugar.
Bake at 325-degrees for 30-35 minutes.
I use 3 egg whites and 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar for the topping because I like a lot of the topping.
