Suggest a better descriptionTo make the pretzel bites:
- preheat over to 400 degrees
- start by adding water, yeast, and brown sugar to a small bowl, mix and let rest for 10 minutes
- In a large bowl add 3 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
- After your yeast mixture has rested for 10 minutes, add it to the flour and knead the dough 10 minutes
- brush a bowl with olive oil, and add your ball of dough to the bowl; cover with a damp towel and let rest for 20 minutes
- after 20 minutes, put the dough on a flowered surface and pat it down gently, it should be about an inch in thickness
- cut the dough into strips and then into bite sized pieces; cover and let rest for another 5 minutes
- while they rest, boil a pot of water and add the baking soda; then add the pieces of dough and allow to boil for 30 seconds of each side (i recommend only doing a few pieces at a time to ensure none are overcooked!)
- add the pieces to a prepared baking sheet, sprinkle with kosher salt, and bake for 8 minutes
- finally, brush with butter or olive oil and allow to cool a bit!
To make cheese sauce:
- add 6 table spoons butter and 6 table spoons flour into a saucepan; cook on medium heat until the mixture is golden brown
- then add your heavy cream, cheeses, and seasonings; allow the sauce to thicken a bit before taking it off the heat (make sure you are continuously mixing during this process)
- serve your pretzel bites with the sauce!!
