Suggest a better descriptionIn medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of the milk with 1/4 cup of sugar and salt.
Bring to a boil over moderate heat - stirring to dissolve the sugar
Remove from heat.
In medium bowl, combine the cornstarch with the unsweetened chocolate and remaining 1/4 cup of the sugar.
Whisk until well blended
Add remaining 1/4 cup milk and whisk until smooth.
Whisk this mixture into the hot milk, whisking constantly. Bring to a boil over moderate heat
Reduce heat to moderately low and simmer, whisking constantly, until the pudding is thick enough to coat the back of spoon.
In medium bowl, whisk the whole egg and the egg yolks.
Gradually whisk 1 cup of the hot cocoa pudding into the eggs until thoroughly incorporated
Scrape the pudding back into the saucepan
Cook pudding over moderate heat, whisking constantly, until it just comes to a boil.
Strain the pudding into a medium heatproof bowl
Add the chopped chocolate, butter and vanilla. Whisk until chocolate and butter are melted and incorporated until pudding is smooth
Transfer pudding to a bowl. Press plastic wrap directly on surface of pudding, Refrigerate overnight.
Next day to serve. Transfer the pudding to6 6oz individual ramekins.
Top pudding with whipped cream.
