Combine shallots, butter, vinegar, thyme, salt and rind, stirring well.
Snap off tough ends of the asparagus. Arrange spears in a single layer in a baking dish coated with cooking spray. Cover with foil, bake for 5min. Uncover and bake an additional 10 min or until asparagus is crisp tender. Pour butter mixture over asparagus, toss gently to coat. Serve immediately.
