Lovely and delicate little cookie balls.
Using electric mixer, beat together butter and sugar until smooth; mix in ice water and vanilla. Stir in flour until well mixed and then add pecans.
Chill dough, tightly covered, for at least 35 minutes.
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F.
Form dough into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheets about 1 inch apart.
Bake for 40 minutes. Let cool just slightly.
While still slightly warm, roll each cookie in powdered sugar being very generous with the powdered sugar. Allow to cool. I like to roll in powdered sugar for a second time as some of powdered sugar is absorbed into cookie as it cools.
Optional: walnuts can be substituted for pecans but I personally prefer the finer taste of pecans.
While somewhat tedious to make, the end result is so worth it.
These sweet little cookies freeze well and will keep several months in airtight container (so they say but they don't keep that long in my freezer)
