Suggest a better description1. Preheat the grill on a high setting.
2. Roast the peppers, turning occasionally, until the skins are charred, then place them in a plastic bag & seal it. Leave the peppers to cool, (this enables the skins to be removed easily).
3. When the peppers are cool enough to handle, remove the skins & cut the flesh into medium sized slices.
4. Preheat the oven to 190C, 375F, gas mark 5.
5. Roll out the pasty with backing parchment or greaseproof paper, fill with baking beans & bake in the oven for 8-10 minutes or until the pastry starts to lose its wedness & turns a pale golden colour.
6. Take the tin out of the oven & remove the paper & baking beans.
7. Melt the butter in a pan, add the peppers, wine & sea salt, cover & simmer for 5 minutes.
8. Add the tomatoes & stir well.
9. Cook for 5 minutes then leave to cool.
10. In a bowl, beat the eggs, then stir in the milk, mustard & cheese.
11. Mash the sardines, & fold them into the egg mixture.
12. Stir in the pepper sauce, mix well & season to taste (remember that the sardines can be quite salty, so they may just need plenty of freshly ground black pepper).
13. Pour the filling into the pastry case & bake in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until the flan is golden brown.
