We discovered this on vacation at the beach on year. Had to try it at home and this is what we came up with.
Remove the soft centers of the baguette, leaving a ? inch shell. In a small bowl combine the mayonanaise,mustard and Tabasco.
Heat oil in medium saucepan for frying. In a medium bowl combine the milk,egg and tabasco. In another bowl combine bread crumbs,cornmeal,cayenne,salt and pepper. Dip shrimp into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and then into the bread crumbs.
Fry in the oil, turning until golden on both sides about 2-3 minutes. Drain on papertowels.
Meanwhile, spread the mayo sauce on both sides of the bread. Add lettuce,tomato and finally the shrimp. Cut baguette in half and eat. Serve with pickle and hot sauce on the side.
