Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In mixing bowl, cream shortening, butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until mixed thoroughly. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Sift dry ingredients together and add to the shortening mixture.
Roll dough into small balls the size of small walnuts. Roll balls in mixture of 2 Tablespoons of sugar and 2 Teaspoons of cinnamon.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet until lightly browned, but still soft. Cool on a wire rack.
