Suggest a better descriptionIn large mixing bowl, soften yeast in water. Blend in 2 cups of flour, sourdough starter, sugar, butter, and salt. Combine 1 cup flour and baking soda. Stir into flour-yeast mixture. Add enough remaining flour to make moderately stiff dough. Turn out onto floured surface and knead 5 to 8 minutes or until smooth. Place in greased bowl, turning once. Cover with cloth. Set in warm place. Let rise for 1 1/2 hours or until doubles in size. Punch down dough and divide in 1/2. cover, let rest 10 min. Shape into 2 long or round loaf. Place on greased baking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal. Cover. let rise 1 hour or till doubled. Brush with water and make diagonal slashes across top with sharp knife. Bake 375 for 30 to 35 minutes. Remove and cool.
