Suggest a better descriptionTo make the meatballs, place all the ingredients, except the flour and oil, into a bowl and thoroughly mix. Sprinkle a little flour onto the work surface, make 16 balls with the meat mixture and roll them in flour. Heat the oil and gently fry the meatballs for about 6-8 minutes or until brown. Transfer to a warm plate. To make the sauce, place the olive oil and onion in a pan and cook until the onion is soft. Add the tomatoes with their juices and the remaining ingredients and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Place the meatballs in the sauce and continue simmering for a further 4-5 minutes or until thoroughly cooked and there is no pink meat. If the sauce is too thick, add a little water. Serve immediately. NOTES : Meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce make a delicious family lunch or supper dish - you can adjust the amount of spice to suit your familys taste. Serve the meatballs with creamy mashed potato or pasta, and a watercress salad.
