A Currie family favorite to make each winter/Christmas. You can make it any flavor and how ever strong you would like. Can be tough to make on humid/raining days though.
Mix and heat the sugar, Karo and water in a heavy saucepan. Heat to 300 degrees (Hard Crack). Remove from heat, stir in flavoring and food color. Amount will be based on type and strength- usually about 1/2 tsp of flavoring.
Pour onto buttered cookie sheet.
When hard, break into pieces, put in airtight jar and add some of the powdered sugar. Shake to coat the candies and keep separate.
