Suggest a better descriptionPlace egg whites in a bowl, let stand 30 min. HEAT oven to 350 degrees. Line bottoms of 2 greased 8" round baking pans with parchement, grease paper. In a bowl, cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar until fluffy. Add egg yolks, beat well. Beat in vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt, add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beat well. Transfer to pans. Beat egg whites until foamy. Add remaining sugar until soft peaks form. Spread over batter in pans. BAKE 15 min. or until done. Cool completely in pans. In a bowl, beat cream until stiff peaks form. Loosen edges of cakes from pans. Remove one cake to a plate, meringue side up. Arrange sliced strawberries over top, sprinkle with sugar, spread with half of the whipped cream. Top with remaining cake layer, meringue side up, spread with remaining whipped cream. Top with whole strawberries. Refrigerate until SERVING...
