Mix butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Then mix in 1 cup of flour, the baking powder and salt. Add remaining flour and mix. Chill mixture for 1 hour. Roll out cookie dough and cut shapes with your favorite cookie cutter. Bake cookies on ungreased cookie sheet for 5 to 7 minutes at 400 (until slightly brown on bottom). Then put on icing per the following recipe.
3 cups powdered sugar
6 Tablespoons butter
2-3 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
Mix ingredients and add food coloring. Decorate as you wish.
