Turkey Buying Guide:
Turkey size - 20 pounds
Turkey type - whole unstuffed
Servings - 27
Defrost time - 5 days
Be sure your bird is completely thawed before stuffing or roasting. (If the center is still frozen, it may not cook evenly). To thaw a whole frozen turkey, place the wrapped bird on a tray in the refrigerator for the recommended time (above). Allow 24 hours for every 5 pounds. Or, place the turkey in a sink of cold water. Change the water every 30 minutes. (Allow 30 minutes per pound). Do not thaw at room temperature or in warm water. Remove the giblet and neck. Do not stuff the bird until you're ready to roast it.
Turkey Roasting Guide:
Method - open roasted
Begin time - 9:55 to 10:25 a.m.
Cook time - 4 1/4 to 4 3/4 hours
Oven temp - 325 degrees F
Standing time - 20 minutes
Serving time - 3:00 p.m.
