Saute garlic and red pepper flakes in oil until fragrant. Add onions and cook until soft and beginning to color. Add tomato paste, deglaze with wine, then add canned tomatoes and basil.
Saute mushrooms in separate pan and add to pot.
Saute tofu in separate pan with some liquid smoke and fennel seeds and italian seasoning and pepper and salt and add to pot.
Simmer for at least one hour.
Add margarine and nutritional yeast and season to taste.
