Add more water to make it soupy. This is really great for a cold winter's day with rye toast and butter.
Heat oil in a large pot. Saute onions & garlic for 10 minutes. Add spices & bulgar wheat and cook for 2 minutes, stirring often.
Add tomatoes with their juices. Add beans, soy sauce, water, salt & pepper.
Cook over low heat for 30 minutes or until thick & fragrant.
Stir occasionally
Before serving add butter.
