Brown ground beef and sausage. Drain fat. Puree whole tomatoes, sift out seeds with strainer. Add blended tomatoes and tomato paste to meat mixture. Mix in finely chopped garlic, oregano and basil. Cook meat mixture over medium heat until mixture thickens. Move the meat mixture to a large pot, and add 4 cups of water. Simmer sauce for 3 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken. Serve over pasta.
