Bill Knapp's Au Gratin Potatoes

Recipes »  Side Dish  »  Potatoes

For best results, use whole milk and real butter. No substitutes! Can top with buttered soft bread crumbs.

"Taste just like at Bill Knapp's. I worked at Bill Knapp's for over 35 years. Before baking the potatoes, sprinkle paprika lightly over top as done in the rest. Helps aid in browning and appearance."

Made for grand-daughter's wedding. There were 60 people who attended. Found it very easy to make and the comments from the guests was excellent and like Bill Knapp's.

I add 2 tablespoons chopped onion and a dash of garlic to this recipe. I also use southern style frozen hash brown potatoes rather then fresh diced and boiled. Speeds things up.

I would add some leftover ham, cut up in this.

OK, but please! Not velveeta. I'd rather use Elmer's glue. I made this with mozarella cheese and it was great. I also used red potatoes.
