Preheat oven to 350. Grease 2 8" round cake pans.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Cream butter and sugar together. Add milk, vanilla and dry ingredients. Beat for 8 minutes; fold in egg whitees and pour into prepared cake pans. Bake 35 minutes or until cakes test done in center.
Cool & frost with desired frosting.
