Good biscuits using milk and no sugar.
Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in lard/shortening until mixture has texture of corn meal. Add in 2/3 cup of milk and stir quickly to make a soft dough, not sticky. If dough is too stiff, stir in remainder of milk. Turn dough onto floured surface and knead about 10 times. Roll out to 1/2 to 3/4 inch thickness, and cut into rounds. Repeat with remaining dough: press together, roll out and cut. Place 1-inch apart for crusty biscuits, and closer together for softer biscuits. Bake in a 375 degree oven until browned, about 12 to 15 minutes.
