A great cookie with a kick!
Best if made a few days in advance so the flavor has time to mellow.
In a heavy medium saucepan heat chocolate over low heat until melted, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar and corn syrup. Stir in bourbon until well mixed. Add vanilla wafers and nuts to mixture and mix well. Let stand for 30 minutes. Shape into 1" balls, rolling each in additional sugar. Store in a tightly covered container.
Can use Whiskey instead of Bourbon, we usually use Jack Daniels. You can make rum balls by substituting butterscotch chips for chocolate chips and rum for bourbon.
