Sweet potato or butternut squash should work well here.
Put first set of ingredients in crock pot and cook for about 8 hours on low or for 4 hours on high. Once the sweet potatoes are tender, stir everything together. Break up the ingredients as much as you want. When only 1 hour of cooking time is left ADD: half and half and butter.
