Dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water. Add flour and salt. Mix all ingredients together. Knead for 8 minutes.
Pour melted butter evenly over a cookie sheet. Sprinkle with garlic salt or powder. Roll dough out 1/2" thick. Cut into 1/2- to 1-inch thick strips. Roll strips in butter. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Let rise 10 to 15 minutes. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

Solaine 1 year agoI absolutely adore this recipe! As it works for me, I take half of the dough and use it per the original post here. I take the other 1/2 and roll it out just like I would for cinnamon rolls. Brush soft butter on it, sprinkle it with brown sugar and cinnamon, pop it in the oven (after a short rise time per the original recipe) and I have hot and yummy fresh rolls for breakfast! You do gave to cook them for about 10 minutes longer than the breadsticks. But seriously, do this on a Saturday night and you've set yourself up for a lazy Sunday morning. Another suggestion (family favorite alternative) Cream the butter for the cinnamon roll method with banana extract. Do the same thing to either the traditional cinnamon roll icing or the cream cheese icing. Sprinkle in some walnuts and poof....you are the Sunday morning kitchen master! Sit back and enjoy the coffee. =D
Sharon1rose 2 years agoI tweaked the recipe and used 1/3 cup olive oil instead of butter. Used it for pizza dough, terrific enough for one big pan pizza. Have used the same recipe w butter for garlic sticks family ate them all!!!
