My husband tasted Jack Daniels Baked Barbecue Beans and since then I've been perfecting the recipe. It is always a hit at a pot luck and hardly a drop is left!! Try it , you'll love it. Spice it up with ghost sauce or leave it mild.
Cut beef into large pieces that allow for easy removal of fat. Liberally season with salt, pepper and onion powder. Add Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey to the meat. Cook beef in slow cooker on low until very tender. 4-6 hours. Cook on low for best tenderness. Remove from pan and allow to cool.
Empty broth from cooker and clean slow cooker before adding beans.
Add all beans, brown sugar, chopped bacon, chopped onion and barbecue sauce to pot. Turn crockpot back on low after adding the sauce.
Take each piece of cooked beef and slice against the grain into smaller slices around 1/2" pieces. Then shred it as much as possible. Add to the slow cooker and stir in.
Add 1/4 cup or more Jack Daniel's Honey Whiskey to thin to desired consistency.
Cook on low for 6 hours stirring occasionally so that it does not stick. Can be cooked the day prior and left on warm (if you have that option). Then bring back to low to reheat thoroughly. If the beans are too soupy then then mash some of the beans with a potato masher or with a large spoon remove excess sauce and save for later. It can be added back during cooking time if it then becomes too thick.
Optional: TBD
Add hot spices like chili powder and cumin if you want a hot spicy and sweet version. My husband loves me to add a hot chili ghost sauce to give it a punch.
