Suggest a better descriptionCook macaroni according to package directions. Preheat oven to 350 F. Melt butter in heavy-bottom sauce pan over med-high heat. (Can add 1-2 cloves minced garlic if desired.) Add flour and whisk until combined. Add milk and continue to cook over med-high heat, stirring constantly, until it begins to thicken. Remove from heat and cool about 5 minutes. Add cheese and stir until completely melted. Add salt and pepper to taste. Combine cheese sauce and macaroni, stirring to coat macaroni evenly. Spray 9x13 casserole with nonstick cooking spray and pour macaroni into dish. If desired, combine 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs with 1/4 melted butter and top macaroni and cheese with breadcrumb mixture. Cover with foil and bake 30 min. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes, until browned on top.
