Ingredients

8 slices bread
6 T. butter
1/4 cup onion; chopped
1/4 cup celery; chopped
3/4 cup chicken broth
1/4 t. dried thyme; crushed
1/4 t. ground sage
1/4 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper

Original recipe makes 8 Servings

Preparation

Toast bread, spread with butter. Cut into cubes. In covered saucepan, cook onion and celery in broth for 5 mins. Stir in seasonings. Combine with toast cubes; toss lightly. Add 1/4 cup more broth for moist stuffing, if desired. Use to stuff a 5-pound roasting chicken or bake, covered, in greased 1-quart casserole dish at 375 for 30 mins.

Turned out perfect the first time. Made a batch for 48 and only a few bites were left. Lots of compliments!

This stuffing is delicious! I made the recipe as listed except with half the thyme. More than one person at our Thanksgiving dinner commented about how good it was. I will make this stuffing for every holiday dinner.
