To make softer cookies use 3/4 c brown sugar and 1/4 cup white sugar
Sift flour, add oatmeal, cocoa and baking soda.
Beat butter and sugars til fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in flour mix til well blended. Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.
Drop by tsp full on cookie sheets.
Bake 10 to 12 min. or until lightly browned.
Bake at 350 degrees.
Can omit cocoa and chocolate chips and use raisins and spices instead.
