Suggest a better descriptionPlace flour, salt and pepper in a large sandwich bag. Add shanks and shake until well coated. Heat oil in frypan and cook lamb in batches, for a few minutes on all sides until golden brown. Transfer browned shanks to the slow cooker.
Combine beef stock, wine, maple syrup and garlic in large jug and pour over lamb shanks, then add onions. Cover and cook on high for 6-8 hours. Before serving, remove shanks (carefully because they will be very delicate). Using a large spoon, skim some of the fat that has accumulated on the surface. Combine cornflour and water in a cup then add to slow cooker. Cook sauce for a further 10-15 minutes while sauce thickens.
Serve shanks whole or alternatively, remove the meat from the bone and shred through the sauce.
Serve with mashed potato and green vegetables.
