A little sweet, a little savory. A LOT of flavor. Not as guilt free as some turkey burgers due to the butter sauce, but sure does taste great! I serve them with apple fries or homemade potato chips.
Mix all burger ingredients well but gently. The apples add needed moisture to the patty, but if the pieces are broken up too finely, that moisture will cook out much easier with the meat juices.
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees, and get a skillet hot over medium-high heat.
Form patties as they go into the pan using two large spoons (these are a little sloppy to form using your hands, but if you don't mind feel free to hand-form). Cook long enough to get a really good sear on both sides. Once you have your sear, transfer the patties to the oven to finish on a cookie sheet. 15 minutes should do it, but no longer than 25 (they are very juicy, but will still dry out eventually).
While your patties are in the oven, melt the butter for your sauce in a small saucepan over medium heat. Once melted, add the other sauce ingredients and bring to a gentle boil, stirring constantly. Once there, boil for 2-3 minutes, and then transfer the sauce to a blender. Blend well for 15 seconds, and then put it back in the pan. Continue stirring over medium-low heat until just beginning to thicken. Remove from heat.
Once ready to serve, remove patties from the oven and inject each of them with 2-3 teaspoons of the sauce. Serve on a buttered roll with desired fixings.
Sauce is better injected to aid in keeping the patty juicy, but you can serve it over the burger as well.
