Suggest a better descriptionPlace one pie pastry into bottom of 9 inch pie plate.
For filling, in a very large bowl, stir together the granulated sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Add the apple slices, and toss gently until well-coated. Transer apple mixture to the pastry lined pie plate. (Mixture will be mounded.) Trim pastry to the edge of the pie plate.
Cut slits in the remaining pastry to allow for steam to excape and place the pastry on the filling. Trim 1/2 inch beyond the edge of place. Fold top pastry under bottom pastry; crimp edge. To prevent overbrowning, cover edge of pie with metal piecrust shield or foil. Bake pie in a 350 degree oven for 35 minutes. remove shield or foil. Bake for 35 minutes more.
Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, stir together butter, brown sugar, and half and half, light cream, or milk. Bring to boiling; remove from heat. stir in pecans.
Remove pie from oven; place on a 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Pour brown sugar mixture over hot pie. Bake 5 minutes more. Cool on wire rack.
