Thinly sliced apples and squash perfect for holiday dinners.
Preheat oven to 375. In 13x9 glass baking dish, alternate squash and apple slices in rows, packing tightly. Combine remaining ingredients and melt over stove or in microwave until well blended. Pour hot mixture over squash and apples.
Cover dish tightly with foil and bake for one hour. Uncover dish and baste. Reduce temperature to 350. Continue to bake until apples and squash are tender and syrup is thick, basting occasionally, about 45 minutes.
Let stand for ten minutes then serve.
May substitute sweet potatoes for squash.
