The mixture of baked apples with cheddar cheese might sound weird, but it is so delicious!
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
In a bowl, stir flour, butter, cheese and salt until crumbly. Sprinkle with milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, stirring until pastry holds together. Form into a ball. Roll out on a floured pastry cloth. Transfer to a 9" pie pan; trim and flute.
* You can also use a Pillsbury refrigerated pie crust. Let sit out 30 minutes before using. Sprinkle the 1/2 cup of cheddar on the counter, unroll the pie crust over the cheese and press down to incorporate. Put in a 9" pie pan, cheese side up.
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, egg and sugar until smooth. Stir in apples and pour into crust.
In another bowl, mix flour, sugar and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in nuts. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 degrees and bake 30-35 minutes, or until apples are tender.
