Chicken dumplings from a lady in St. Louis
cook chicken - once done- remove from broth, and debone. (Do not get rid of broth)
In mixing bowl ad dry ingredients and cut in shortening
Si\tir in Milk until mixed
on a floured surface roll out dough 1/8 -1/4 " thick
cut into 2" squares with a knife and drop into the boiling broth
DO NOT COVER POT
cook until the dumplings float
The dumplings will be chewy, NOT fluffy.
Remove from heat
Once dumplings are done add the deboned meat- and let sit for a few minutes to cool off - and flavors blend together.
