Trim the beans to fit into the pint jars, about 4" long.
For each pint, combine 1 c vinegar with 1/2 c water. Heat to boiling.
While the brine heats, place 1/2 tsp pickling salt, 1 clove garlic, 1 sprig dill, and 1 hot pepper into each clean hot pint jar. Pack with the beans, leaving 1/2" head space. Pour the hot brine over the beans, leaving 1/2" head space. Seal. Process in a boiling water bath or steam canner for 10 minutes. Adjust seals if necessary. Cool undisturbed for 12 hours. Store in a cool, dry place. Do not open for about 6 weeks to allow the flavors to develop.
