Add garlic and garam masala.
Add the coconut milk and chicken broth, season with salt and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and stir in the rice. Add the tumeric and salt.
Cover and remove from heat. Let stand until liquid is absorbed.
Sprinkle the raisins and cashew nuts over the rice.
